Tournament Format


Qualification

6 games (entries and re-entries)

High-Low

Every athlete can pay additional 10,-€ per squad to participate in a separate High-Low compe-tition, in which the lowest and the highest game in the squad is added together, to form a separate High-Low standing for the tournament. Top 4 in the High-Low standing, not qualified from the general standing or from the separate standing for squad 1-6, is qualified for the final step 1.

48 athletes will qualify for the final steps

A: Top 34 from the general standing
B: Top 6 from a separate standing for squad 1-6
C: Top 4 from the High-Low standing
D: Top 4 from the Desperado standing

Athletes are qualified in the order A - B - C – D

Seeding for the Final step 1-3

Athletes positioned 1-4 in the general standing are qualified for the final step 3
Athletes positioned 5-8 in the general standing are qualified for the final step 2
All other qualified athletes are qualified for the final step 1


Final step 1

40 athletes will play 4 games starting from scratch
Athletes positioned 1-20 are qualified for the final step 2
Athletes positioned 21-40 will be ranked 25-48 according to their positions in the final step 1

Final step 2

24 athletes will play 4 games starting from scratch
Athletes positioned 1-12 are qualified for the final step 3
Athletes positioned 13-24 will be ranked 17-24 according to their positions in the final step 2

Final step 3

16 athletes will play 4 games starting from scratch
Athletes positioned 1-8 are qualified for the final step 4
Athletes positioned 9-16 will be ranked 9-16 according to their positions in the final step 3

Final step 4

8 athletes will play 4 game with the pin fall from step 3 carried forward
Athletes positioned 1-4 are qualified for the final step 5
The athletes positioned 5-8 will be ranked 5-8

Final step 5

4 athletes will play 1 game with the pin fall from step 4 carried forward
Athletes positioned 1-2 are qualified for the final step 6
The athlete positioned 3-4 will be ranked 3-4

Final step 6

2 athletes will play 1 game starting with the pin fall from step 5 carried forward
The athletes positioned 2 will be ranked 2
The athletes positioned 1 will be ranked 1

Tournament tie rules

Qualification
The highest positioned athlete will be the athlete scoring the highest last game. If a tie still exists, the highest positioned athlete will be the athlete with the highest second last game etc.

Desperado
A tie influencing who will qualify for the first final step will be broken by playing a 9th and 10th frame roll off, repeated until the tie is broken.

Final Step 1-3
Ties influencing who will qualify for the next final step, and ties for any of the first 4 positions in step 3, will be broken by playing a 9th and 10th frame roll off, repeated until the tie is broken. In all other tie situations in step 1-3, a procedure similar to the procedure for the qualification will be followed.

Final step 4-6
In case of a tie, a one-ball roll-off on a full set of pins will be played and repeated until the tie is broken.

The High-Low
In case of a tie, the highest positioned athlete will be the athlete with the highest position after the qualification.
